Fujifilm Group celebrated its 90th anniversary in January 2024. To mark the occasion, FUJIFILM PHOTO SALON Osaka will present FUJIFILM Photo Collection II, a set of photographs newly acquired to commemorate the 90th anniversary.

In 2014, on the occasion of its 80th founding anniversary, Fujifilm collected 101 selected photographs by 101 photographers from the end of the Edo and Meiji periods (mid of 1860 —) to the present day as the "FUJIFILM Photo Collection". The collection has been exhibited at more than 20 locations, including FUJIFILM SQUARE and museums nationwide, and has been used to convey their value to more than 200,000 people, as well as to promote a systematic understanding of the history of Japanese photography.

The FUJIFILM Photo Collection II, which was displayed in this exhibition, was developed from the FUJIFILM Photo Collection and targets works by foreign photographers with the theme of Capturing the Human Experience.
Portraits are regarded as the dominant motive for the birth of photographic techniques and as the origin of photography. Through the development of many new techniques, portraits have always been at the center of peopleʼs interest. Capturing the Human Experience is the intimate heart of the history of photography and a universal theme of photographs.

The exhibition will present a total of 53 extremely valuable, original prints newly acquired to form FUJIFILM Photo Collection II.

The exhibition was held from April 26 (Fri) to May 16 (Thu) at FUJIFILM SQUARE (Minato Ward, Tokyo) with more than 20,000 visitors during the period, and received excellent reviews.

We hope you will enjoy the opportunity to see this outstanding collection of masterpieces that capture the human experience in 20th-century photographs.
